Some couples spend 2/3 years planning their big day, others just 6 months and when to book your wedding suppliers is one of the most popular questions asked.
If your one of those wondering, then grouping your suppliers into two categories will be of massive benefit to you. Those that can cater for more than one wedding a day and those who cant
The ones only able to take one wedding per day like your photographer, videographer, band, make-up artist, hairstylist, ceremony singer etc should all be booked early on in the planning stages. Ones with a bit more flexibility and can cater for multiple weddings like your florist, cake maker, selfie mirror, room decor etc can be booked later.
However, your venue (and church if having a religious ceremony) are the most important suppliers to contact as soon as you decide to start the wedding planning. They will determine the location and date of your big day. Without a definite date, there’s no point contacting any one else.
Remember, timing is everything and when it comes to wedding planning this couldn’t be more accurate. I see it time and time again where couples have their heart set on a particular supplier only to find, on enquiry they’re already booked up. So, if you know you want a certain band or photographer , get in touch straight away. Trust me, it's never too early to book.
Some of my top recommdations for suppliers are:

♥Style Of Bouquet: Modern Bouquets tend to be a bit smaller and less packed. Traditional weddings will call for larger. more sumptuous bouquet.
♥Size and Style of Dress: A Large dress will probably look better with a larger bouquet as well, but it also depends on the style of the dress, just like the style of the bouquet.
♥ Size difference you want between the Bride and Bridesmaids Bouquets.
As a wedding photographer, im like the biggest bride going as ive spent most wedding days besides bride on her wedding day by 500+ times over at this stage! So I have seen brides reactions to all sorts of different size Bouquets down through the years and my simple conclusion is that bigger is NOT always better. You can do your research and ask wedding flower experts but they don’t spend the entire day carrying this thing around.
Small is BEST but making sure its noticeable difference in the size to the bridesmaids wedding day Bouquets. Small tends to not be so heavy and awkward especially when walking for around for photos and having to hold for long periods of time and fix the dress etc.
My little penny worth is, that Small to medium is the best option as its isn’t cumbersome and you don’t cover half your bridal party with it over even oyu top half of your body. Its a long day so be very wary that YOU are holding the Bouquet and don’t want to be weighted down regret a huge one like many thanks I have seen.

Speciality Entertainment (magician/hypnotist etc): We had the brilliant Niall O'Loughlin who's a caricature and lovely guy for our reception.
How did you meet?: We used to work together over 10 years ago in Quinn Direct Insurance days but we never went out at the time.
When I left to go travelling for a year we kept in touch at times and when I came back, I started working in Argos in Blanchardstown and he would pop in with the lads I knew from when I was there and i noticed it was on more than one occasion id see him and he asked me out after a few visits and chats and the rest is history :)
Tell us about the Proposal: We booked a trip to go to New York for a few days as we wanted to see it at Christmas time and it was before we realised we would get our new home soon date we booked. But sure we couldn't not go.
It was December so the Christmas lights and the buzz of christmas coming was in full force. We aimed for The Rockefeller Christmas tree first as I was dying to see it in person. The place was packed with tourists and we had a wander to St Patrick's Cathedral and I messed with him saying, imagine this is us walking up the aisle haha he just laughed at the thoughts. We decided to walk back to the christmas tree and noticed a girl was getting proposed to on the ice rink and I was saying 'oh scarlet for her everyone is around them watching' and a few minutes later Karl turns to me and says I have a question to ask you. I just started to cry Haha I couldn't believe it. And Of course I said Yes :) He didnt get down on one knee but he did when we got back to our hotel.
It was the best feeling ever. I didnt expect it all because we had just got our house and had being doing up before we left. So thought it's not happening as no money left but he had it planned from start the year and had already asked for my dad's permission while he was helping take wallpaper down in our house haha. He said the ring was in his wallet the whole way to New York and was praying security didnt see it on the x rays. But all worked out:)
Tell us about THE dress :): I found my dress over a year before our wedding and in the first shop I went to. It was the Bridal Outlet in Baldoyle. I knew of it from my cousin and a friend getting their dresses there but I was only going in to have a look with my mam and two sisters as I was missing one other bridesmaid that couldn't fly home on time and thought ah sure i will still just go.
I picked 6 to try and we were face timing my bridesmaid so she didnt feel left out and it was my 3rd dress that I knew myself it was the one.I got that feeling most brides say they get. I just got so emotional when I first tried it on and felt like a princess when I looked in the mirror that I knew it was the one for me :) I tried on the remainder but kept thinking back to the 3rd dress that i knew I didnt need to go elsewhere and didnt :)
Tell Us about the Suits!: I just said to Karl once its navy blue colour and you feel comfortable in it then I'm happy haha. He went to Collar and Cuffs in Glasnevin. He knew the owner whose a lovely guy. He looked after Karl and my dad and groomsmen so well, very easy going and nothing was issue when came to the lads popping in different times for measurements etc. The suits were fab on them all on the day I was delighted.
Tell us about your ceremony: Our ceremony turned out better than I could have imagined. I thought I would be a nervous nellie and be anxious with everyone looking at me walking up the aisle etc as when we had our rehearsal I was standing on the alter looking down and I thought oh how am I going to do this. But I really surprised myself as I was so relaxed and stayed calm the whole ceremony, smiling and taking everyone's faces who was there as I knew they there for us and I didnt need to be nervous. I thought I'd be an emotional wreck hearing my song walking up the aisle but I didnt it was mad. I loved the moment hearing my song come on and having my dad by my side to go through it walking up the aisle that you grow up wanting that moment with your dad. I vaguely remember the songs our singer sang and when and see the ceremony as it goes so fast so thats why it will be great to have it on video.
Favourite Memory Of The Day?: Getting ready in my parents home where I grew up, I always wanted to have that tradition as I have so many good memories there and wanted to have that special moment of being with my dad on the drive to the church as I know he did too as he pushed us to get the vintage car saying he could see me and him in it and get our photo together. I'll treasure forever. Walking into my mams dining room for the 1st time in my dress and seeing their reactions was amazing aswell. I have so many memories I'll cherish forever.
What one piece of advice would you give future brides: Don't panic on the day of your wedding. Enjoy every second, taking it in as much as you can as I didnt think it could go by so quickly but it does. Everyone is there for you and your husband so there's no need to worry.
I would looking back not dwell on the decor as much as I did. I found myself second guessing what we did chose when I saw other previous weddings on social media and It's hard especially as your day gets closer you find you panic you haven't done enough but on your day you barely think about it all it's crazy!
I would think of the journey time if getting married in a church that's not near your reception as it does eat into your day but for me I've no regrets as I wanted to be at my mam n dads for the getting ready part where it wouldn't bother other brides. Just depends on what you want.
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: Well Darren was recommended by a friend from work to me and looking at his previous work and what he offers was really good for what we wanted. When he asked us to meet him in Starbucks with juliet at the time,we thought it was a brilliant idea and hadn't experienced that before with others we tried. We chatted so easily together and both walked away thinking hes a lovely sound guy and the samples he showed us we loved and just felt he was the perfect choice.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: Same reasons above although on the day it was someone else as juliet had left when came to our wedding but no issues with that
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: We had looked at 3 other places before we heard of Seafield hotel suggested by my sister to have a look at as she was there for the spa. They others were lovely venues but we just weren't getting that 'this is it' feeling until we walked into Seafields reception and fell in love with it. We were there for a wedding fare and got chatting to Ronan part of the wedding coordinator team and he just sold it to us. The golf clubhouse was also a winner as we could just pictures having that as our reception drinks and for our 2nd day that all worked out as we imagined it'd be.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: Well we haven't gone on our honeymoon yet we decided to to a minimoon to Belfast for 2 days after the weekend of our wedding. We had a lovely time. We were tired packing for it at first as after your wedding you are wiped out for a few days. We booked a titanic tour and a Game of thrones tour and it was great fun.
We are flying to Orlando this September for 6 nights then a Caribbean cruise for 7 nights and Washington DC for 3 nights so we are really looking forward to going on our honeymoon :)

How did you meet?: I was on a night out in Belfast with my friend Alison. We were sitting in the Harp Bar taking a selfie when two guys came over offering to take the photo. They then invited themselves to sit with us for the night. One ended up being my future husband and the other his groomsman. Tell us about the Proposal: We went to London for the weekend and were heading into Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park on the Saturday morning. Suddenly as were approaching the entrance Chris decided he didn't want to queue and wanted to go for a walk. I didnt understand why as the queue wasn't very long and this was the reason we were in Hyde park. But I followed him on a walk through Kensington Gardens where I saw a cool weeping willow tree that you could walk under. I walked in to the tree, followed by Chris. I was reading all the carvings on the tree trunk when I turned around to see Chris down on one knee.
Tell us about THE dress :): I always wanted a tea lenght wedding dress so after going to a few bridal shops and trying on a few different styles I kept coming back to tea lenght. I was down in Dublin for the weekend and saw this dress. My Mam came up the next day to see it and agreed with me that it was the one so we bought it that day.
Tell Us about the Suits!: The suits are from Red in Belfast. Chris knew what he wanted so I left him to it. I think they really suited our style of wedding and complimented the bridesmaid dresses.
Tell us about your ceremony: We were very lucky with beautiful weather to be able to have our ceremony outside. Our flowergirls Ava and Isla and pageboy Donnacha were amazing and all made it up the aisle. The ceremony was very personal to me and Chris and involved so many of our favourite people, a lot of who travelled a long way to be there. My close friends Laura, Marian and Keith provided the music for the ceremony and sang four of our favourite songs. The readings were chosen by us and read by Chris' sister Kerrie, brother-in-law David, my brother Oisin and friend Alison. We had plenty of laughs throughout and it was the relaxed atmosphere we wanted. Favourite Memory Of The Day?: We had the best fun all day. Some favourite memories include the craic in the morning with our familes getting ready, the photoshoot with our bridal party, the fun on the dancefloor and singsong in the residents bar. What one piece of advice would you give future brides: Get as much organised months before the wedding so you don't have to do anything in the last few weeks. Celebrate and enjoy the hen and stag parties to the full. On the day make sure you are enjoying every minute of it.
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: We met with Darren and instantly liked him and his plan for the day. We did not want our day taken up with photographs. We went straight to the drinks reception after the ceremony and got to spend time with our guests. When we did go for our photos with Darren later we had the best fun with him. It didn't feel like it took time away from our wedding but added great memories to the day.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: Same as above.
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: I am from Roscommon and Chris is from Belfast so we wanted a venue somewhere in the middle to make it easier for guests. We instantly loved the venue and always wanted to get married outside. We read some excellent reviews on Farnham Estate and the options for the next day bbq was exactly what we wanted.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: We went to Canada for two weeks. We spent a few nights in Toronto and then drove to Niagra on the Lake for two nights, Blue Mountain for three nights and then up to Ottowa for the last weekend for our friends Johnny and Amanda wedding. We met some lovely people, seen some amazing sights and had really great fun along the way.

Like any wedding in the darker months its very important to choose the right time for your ceremony taking in conservation for the time of your meal call as if you have any travel time in-between your ceremony & venue well this will play a big part on the whole outcome for you, your guest and the general timeline for the day.
Get the timings right, your have an amazing day!
With Karen & Ross, they had a civil ceremony in their chosen Venue which meant no travel time needed. Daylight gets very limited after 3pm so the best way for them was to go for a first look. This idea is really getting popular in Ireland for weddings and it allows the couple to take advantage of daylight for photos and get a lot of photos done before the ceremony starts.
Thus, it allowed them to catch more of their part & drinks reception with having a lot of photos done and dusted earlier in the day. Did the first look take away from their day? We here say......... NO! > if anything it added to their photos and their fab wedding day.
See if you can tell the difference from a little selection from their Waterford Castle Hotel Wedding Day.

Bellinter House Wedding by
Darren Byrne Photography
I recently took part in shooting a wedding a Bellinter House in Co. Meath. This wasn't my first time here but I was genuinely shocked at how stunning the place was by getting around the the place for the 2nd time and getting to know parts of it better. For anyone searching for a wedding venue that has beautiful gardens and country vibe, then Bellinter House is one that needs to go on your visit list for your wedding planning adventures.
Ireland has so many different kinds of wedding hotels and venues around that it makes the decision hard to choose with packages left, right and centre that are all very similar. To pick one that's different is hard but I do always see it when doing professional wedding photography. people choose a venue that's just a little to far to travel and you then miss out on being at your drinks reception.
So by keeping it simple is always better in the long run, don't try re-invent the wheel. Church and venue within 20 minutes max is what I find works best or even closer. This allows for more time at your drinks reception. Wedding photos can be taken then without a rush and allows you to be back at your own wedding before bell call.
Bellinter house was super for this wedding as they wanted to mingle at the drinks and not open to long doing photos but making sure they got plenty of nice ones. The gardens at this stunning Irish vintage wedding are breath taking for just getting the bride and groom shots along with friends and family photos.
Check out this highlight film from this Bellinter House Wedding which the video was shot by Darren Byrne Photography and film.

How did you meet?: We met on a J1 in Huntington Beach, California. We were both in college at the time and one of my best friends and bridesmaids Rose met a group of Tipperary lads via Facebook on a J1 in Huntington Beach 2010 page and decided we’d live together for the summer (very dodgy looking back now haha!)
Tell us about the Proposal: We went to Fiji for New Years (We were living in New Zealand at the time) I didn’t know why he was acting so weird after dinner. He said he had to go to the toilet but he wanted to go to the room (you can guess what he said the reason being) and I was like why is he telling me this ha. I actually txt my bestie and maid of honour saying I think Tonys going to propose he’s being so weird and just told me he need to go to the toilet. Soooo he arrives back and says let’s go for a walk on the beach and I’m like Oh God this is it and he’s like go over there and I’ll take a picture so I walk out to the beach and it’s dusk so you were never going to get a decent picture so I turn around and my heart is going insane thinking he’s going to be there with a ring.....and I turn around.....and he’s there with his phone taking a picture. I’m like ok IM the crazy one reading waaayyy too much into this. What I didn’t realise is that a group of people had walked past and he wanted to do it away from anyone! So after they all walked past he says there’s another reason o wanted to come to the beach and gets down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
Tell us about THE dress :): I went to shops in New Zealand, Ireland and UK but I knew when I found my dress in New Zealand that it was what I wanted. How I chose it was I kept comparing every other dress to it. It wasn’t an oh my god this is the dress moment it was more like I Love this dress way more than any other I’ve seen or tried on. I bought it in Paperswan Bridal in Christchurch, New Zealand and it was called Daisy!
Tell Us about the Suits!: The suits were all hired from Esquire in Limerick. Cannot recommend them enough, they were so nice and easy to deal with, gave so many extras with our suits incase anyone lost anything (highly likely with some of our groomsmen!) that night one of the groomsmen ripped the arse out of his trousers and had to change into a T-shirt and jeans from busting out the moves hahaha! The staff in Esquire thought it was hilarious and just said at least none of ye got arrested, no extra charges or anything, absolute legends! I can absolutely see how they have won awards for wedding wear!
Tell us about your ceremony: Our ceremony was quite low key. My cousin Anna passed away suddenly on Christmas Day and her funeral was actually on in the same church the day after my wedding day. It was very emotional but my family and friends and particularly our priest Fr.Tony who also did the funeral mass were fantastic for getting me through the day. I feel like my wedding day was surrounded by a lot of sadness but having my family and friends and my now husband by my side made it so much more bearable.
Favourite Memory Of The Day?: My favourite memory of the day.....I remember just looking down from the top table and seeing all the people that I love in one room. It was the most amazing minute I had to myself to enjoy the moment and be thankful for everyone who was there.
What one piece of advice would you give future brides: Don’t compare your wedding to anyone else’s, do what you want to do, it’s your day and you’ll hopefully only ever have one. Definitely take a minute to soak it all in if you get the chance to. I’d really recommend a photo booth or selfie mirror, one of my favourite things is looking back at all the silly drunken photos and comments made!
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: I went onto the HIGM website and looked up photographers and videographers and just liked Darren’s website. Both himself and Julianna were super nice to email with, no pressure and just got a good feeling from them.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: Same as above
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: It was actually last on our list of venues to view but the others we thought we’d go for before Dunboyne didn’t live up to what we wanted. The wedding coordinator Kate was super helpful and really got us excited to have our wedding there. We loved the modern feel of the hotel and how clean it was and we loved the fact that we didn’t know many people who had been to weddings there.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: We stayed in Miami for three nights which was amazing and then a Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean on the Empress of the Seas. We went to the Bahamas, Cuba, Key West and the Cayman Islands. We had a ball and got suitably sun burnt ha! It was all organised seamlessly by Susan Ryan of travel counsellors in Nenagh. She was so amazing and thoughtful, even got us a scrabble picture frame made up of all the places we were going to. So easy to deal with, would definitely be booking with her again!

How did you meet?: We met in school 14 years ago.. I noticed Colin first and was absolutely mad about him. It took him a while to notice me, but eventually he did and the rest is history...
Tell us about the Proposal: The proposal was in our kitchen. The day before my 26th birthday.. after two kids and 10 years together we both knew it was time enough
Tell us about THE dress :): My dress was from Alexander's Bridal on Parnel street.. it was from the Venus collection, it was the third dress I tried on and instantly fell in love with it. It was a high back, low back style dress. It made me feel amazing and the alterations were perfect.
Tell Us about the Suits!: The suits were rented from a shop called Ct2 in Blanchardstown. We've had many dealings with this shop and we knew straight away that's were we'd get the suits. They were a sharkskin blue colour and looked absolutely amazing..
Tell us about your ceremony: Our ceremony was an outdoor ceremony at the station house hotel in Kilmessan, it was so lovely and relaxed. Our ceremony was very personal and our children were very much involved. It was perfect for us as we had the sand ceremony and also the hand tying ceremony, which both included our children. A civil ceremony suited us perfectly as it catered for everything we wanted and believed in..
Favourite Memory Of The Day?: My favourite memory of the day was walking up the aisle with my husband and realising that we were married, after 10 years together and having our two beautiful by our side was everything I could have ever wanted.
What one piece of advice would you give future brides: Don't spend crazy money on silly things. You can have a lovely wedding on a small budget.. we got married on a Wednesday some people approved some didn't. It suited us, and that's what mattered. Enjoy every second it goes by so quick. Relax and don't stress...
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: The minute we met with Darren we knew he would be our photographer. He was so easy to talk to and put us at ease. He went through everything and it sounded amazing, we knew he wouldn't disappoint. The communication from himself and Juliana was amazing. They never left us waiting if we had a question. Absolutely amazing to work with, we were very lucky to have Darren and Juliana.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: Didn't have one
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: We loved the station house and we really wanted our ceremony and reception to be in the same place. The Station house ticked all the boxes. The reception room was beautiful and catered for the number of people we had attending our wedding. The staff went above and beyond for us and catered to our every need. It was absolutely perfect and such a stunning venue.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: We went to Dubrovnik in Croatia. It was such a beautiful stunning place. The views and scenery were spectacular. We went on the game of thrones tour and that was such an amazing experience. We went on boat trips and visited different islands. The food and drink was lovely. The people were very friendly, it was 8 days of rest and relaxation, pure bliss

Tell us about your ceremony: We literally laughed from start to finish through the ceremony! It was brilliant. The moment them curtains opened up and I had to walk up the aisle that's when it all felt real.
Favourite Memory Of The Day?: We had such a great day. Was lovely in the house in the morning getting ready with the girls. I loved the craic we had getting the video/photos done. Was brilliant. We had such a lovely day mixing with each other's families and friends. And the first dance that we absolutely dreaded was the best fun!
What one piece of advice would you give future brides: One piece of advice to future brides was to enjoy every minute of it as the day goes so fast. Enjoy the little moments of the day. Don't stress over anything as everything falls into place on the day. Spend ten minutes before the meal alone with one another to actually get the chance to say hello! Enjoy it all. It's the most amazing day.
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: We chose our photographer as he had been recommended by family and friends.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: We chose our videographer from reading reviews and seeing clips online of previous weddings.
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: It's fab! We loved it from the moment we stepped in. Also the food is amazing there.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: We are jetting off to Miami in May and setting sail on the biggest cruise ship in the world "Symphony of the seas" for 7 days! Cannot wait!!

How did you meet? |
We met at work in February 2014, but Ian didn't think much of me when lunch was ordered for a group of us a 6 inch sub was ordered for him instead of a footlong. I stand by the statement that I only asked what he wanted, someone else placed the order. |
Tell us about the Proposal |
We were together 2 years on the day, Easter Sunday 2016 and we were heading away to the Cottages for Couples in Drinagh, Co. Cork. We got in to the (Lassanroe Barn) house and Ian went off around the cottage "to explore" but what I later found out was that he was frantically searching his gearbag for the ring. |
Tell us about THE dress :) |
The dress is a stunning dress from Australian designer Sophia Tolli. I got it in the fantastic Cinderella's Closet, Cork and it is known as "Lady Pia" on their website. |
Tell Us about the Suits! |
All the guys suits came from Simply Suits, Kinsale Road, Cork. |
Tell us about your ceremony |
We wanted a ceremony that reflected us as a couple. We really loved the idea of a civil ceremony and Spiritual Ceremonies ticked all the boxes. Rose Mummery was our celebrant and she was so wonderful. |
Favourite Memory Of The Day? |
The first look was my favourite memory of the whole day since it was the first time we saw each other all dressed up. We spent the morning pottering around the hotel together so I didn't see Ian for about 2 hrs before the first look. We still took each other by surprise and it was a lovely experience to have. We are both really glad we took the time to do it. |
What one piece of advice would you give future brides |
I won't say don't stress because you can't help but stress. |
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer? |
Our photographer came recommended through the Help I'm Getting Married Facebook Page and the Klickapic Team Adrian and Angelina didn't disappoint. They really caught everything. Angelina was even honourary bridesmaid, holding my dress and bouquet when needed when we went to Charlesfort, Kisale for our photos. |
Why did you choose your Videographer? |
Our videographer came recommended through the Help I'm Getting Married Facebook Page/Weddingsonline.ie and Darren & Juliana are one in a million. They were discreet, great craic and captured our day while being ninjas at the same time. |
Why Did you Choose your reception venue? |
We wanted to get married near the water and what better place than the MacDonald Hotel & Spa Kinsale overlooking the stunning Oysterhaven Bay. The view from the function room was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception. Alison Walsh is the single greatest wedding co-ordinator/mind reader in the world. She knew exactly what we wanted before we even said it. She made the whole experience so easy. I couldn't recommend her enough. |
Tell us about your honeymoon! |
We booked our honeymoon through Trailfinders, Marlboro Street, Cork City and Marie took what we wanted onboard and created an amazing experience for us in Dubai and Mauritius. We stayed in the Atlantis on the Palm in Dubai which had so much to do and see. You could genuinely spend all your time there. The resort is the size of 64 Wembley Stadiums. We saw their in-house aquarium, we swam with dolphins and whizzed around the slides in the waterpark. We went on desert jeep safari with Reza Tours and we had a fab evening on the dunes and then dinner and a traditional Arabian experience. We hopped on and off the tour buses around Dubai. |
That honeymoon sounds amaze balls!! Wishing you both all the luck & love in the world & thank you for having us

"Any day spent with you is my favourite day. So today is my new favourite day" - Winnie The Pooh
Shooting in Trim Castle Hotel is a favourite of ours - why? Because I (Darren) love being so close to home and Juliana..well she loves the burgers in the restaurant at dinner time :)
Lets find out more about this couple & wedding - on the day the Pope was in Dublin!
How did you meet?
We met in Benedicts in Belfast I (Suzanne) was up visiting friends for the weekend and Craig was out celebrating his team winning the league
Tell us about the Proposal
Well it began when I was 7 months pregnant and Craig asked me out for lunch in Belfast (where he is from) while walking to lunch he stopped outside a jewlers and a lady open the door and said good afternoon Craig great to see you and he told me to go inside.. Craig had made plans to see three jewlers that day and then brought me for lunch in the merchant.. he then told me that the next day he would be bringing me to my home town of Dublin where he also picked three jewlers and brought me for lunch in the westbury hotel. The day after Dublin he came home from work with a book printed up and inside was all the rings, the details of the shops and all the rings spec I then I had to eliminate afew then leave the rest to him... then 9 months on a trip to Disney land Paris led to the proposal at the Disneyland firework show with our son jack there to witness I must say it was unreal but he did make me wait lol
Tell us about THE dress :)
Well the dress was first spotted in a Window of a bridal store in glasnevin by my sis and maid of honour Deborah she phoned me as said oh I’ve seen a dress and you need to try it on... we hadn’t even booked a venue at this stage lol .. so when we decided on a venue and had date set I phoned the shop to see about the dress and they told me it was no longer in stock 🙈 I forgot about it for awhile until my friend picked her wedding dress in angel star bridal Lisburn road Belfast and told me the Facebook page so I took a look at there stock and low and behold up came the picture of the dress.. I contacted the shop straight away and they told me they had one in stock which was a size 10 (bridal size 8 in my book lol) .. so I booked to see it and tried it on I loved it but was worried as it was too small but I was adamant I would fit .. it was my first dress to try on and it ended up being the one... I did try another 20’or so after that just to be sure but always got drawn back so it was my sis who picked it and when she got married I picked hers x
Tell Us about the Suits!
Suits where from focus menswear... my dad before he passed away picked the double breasted waistcoat that Craig wore on the day.
Tell us about your ceremony
We had a civil ceremony in the hotel - and we wanted to involve the kids. My mam walked me down the aisle as my dad past away in April this year but with my aisle runner, pictures and family there I felt his presents. We done the lighting of the candles and also then to involve the kids we done a sand ceremony.
Favourite Memory Of The Day?
Literally everything I loved and enjoyed every second of the day. From my mams house getting ready, to my police escourt due to the popes visit lol.. in fairness who would ever get that on there big day. My brothers and sisters suprising me with an ABBA tribute.. my hubby doing a sketch of the pope and when he told me that he had for the words of our first dance engraved in our rings - his saying “people fall in love in mysterious ways” and mine saying “even with a touch of a hand” ... this were picked because the night we met he had only touched my hand and told me he would marry me one day but not in a church —- mixed marriage
What one piece of advice would you give future brides
Do not sweat the small stuff... take in every second of your day you have worked hard to get here.. what I found good was during courses of the meal I went around tables briefly chatting to my guests so I got a chat with everyone and then when the music started I just danced the night away and never got caught sitting (as we all know how it is when people get tipsy) ye could end up losing an hour of your big day listening to a drunken conversation we’re all guilty lol. Also definitely find 10 minutes or so with your new hubby to go to your room to take in the day and how each other felt when you seen eachother first
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?
Initially i seen Darren promoting an offer and the more I researched his pics etc and chatting over mail I knew this was the photographer for me. Nothing I asked was ever a problem and all correspondence he was quick getting back to me.
Why did you choose your Videographer?
As part of the photography package. Loved looking up other weddings done and how family members get interviewed etc I loved that touch.
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?
My bridesmaids sister got married there and my bridesmaid is a chef so she was able to tell me how good the venue and the food was. We decided to drive to see it one day and even before we got there we knew it was the one.. the drive from my mams home in ballyfermot was amazing and we just loved it instantly and also when we met the wedding planner Laura she was just amazing and nothing was ever an issue.. Laura is outstanding at her job and even with a sudden bereavement within her family she still attended to us the day before our wedding and after and ensured every staff member was prepped with what we wanted. The venue is outstanding
Tell us about your honeymoon!
We booked to go to Barcelona for a mini moon for four days away from the kids.. Craig turned 40 on the 29th of August so we used it as a joint mini moon and birthday present. It was amazing and I even treated him to a Barcelona game in the big stadium - brownie points for that big time. We stayed in the gran hotel Florida it was high up in the mountains but was only 20 mins bus into the main Barcelona city centre and it was amazing over looking the whole of Barcelona with a spa and major relaxation just what we needed. We will definitely go back again. Craig treated me also to the merchant in Belfast before we headed off which was a fab start to our trip 👍🏻

]]>What a cool wedding we shot on Friday the 6th of April 2018! Shooting with the amazing photographer "Wild Things Wed" was always going to quirky and different as we met a year previous at wedding in Kippure. Pictured in action below -->
Juliana and myself we both on the video job for this particular wedding and it's always deadly to shoot with both of us covering the wedding & each other! Preps were in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, where Keara and Gary hosted the wedding party later on. From prep, we headed to the Killesmeestia Church in Laois where we covered the ceremony & the marriage was signed, sealed and definelty delivered by the fantastic Fr Jackie Robinson! Photos of the wedding day were shot at the Church grounds & from there we went onto a little old castle ruins for more bridal party & bride and groom romantic shots and finally the shots finished off back at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. After some beautiful grub, Panic Animal got the party going again & everyone danced their dessert off :)

Today, the hottest day since 1976 if you don’t mind, brought Team DB to North Co. Meath & Ballymagarvey Village!
We could not have asked for nicer prep locations - Sarah was getting ready in her home house which is a lovely old farm house with lots of room and natural light. This makes for plenty of natural light clips which makes us all look that bit better if you were afraid of cameras :)
Juliana popped down the road to the village of Drumconrath where Laurence and groomsmen were getting ready. Having the craic more to the point & they put a few minutes aside to get suited & booted! Just a short while was spent there to give the bride something to look back at and see what the lads got up too while the make up and hair was getting done.
Church of Sts Brigid & Patrick in Meath Hill was the ceremony location - again full of natural light, a short aisle but lots of room for everyone - photographer (Julie Cummins), Videographer (Us), Musican (Lucy Kavanagh)
The reception wasn’t the first go to place after the ceremony as the bride & groom wanted to do some nice couple shots
back in the brides home house. Met by her Dads calves & Bobby the dog who watched over the house while the big celebrations were under way, we carried on and did the shots in the front garden, the back of the house joining into the dads farm yard & fire log shed.
The Vintage car that brought the groom to the church & the couple to Ballymagarvey belongs to the grooms father, who restored in to it’s full glory for the wedding, as he explained in the very funny speeches. With a nice long cul-de-sac to the home house, we took full advantage of the drone and caught amazing shots of the couple in the car as they made their way to the reception.
Reception was at the one and only Ballymagarvey Village which is also located in Co.Meath. Shooting here is always a pleasure and doing the video here make for quality shots.
This was our first time shooting here since the renovations took place and we were very much taken back at how amazing the function now operates in terms of the wedding guests being at the bar and the dance floor. A big well done to the venue for pulling out the stops and for giving it a really good revamp.
Having your wedding photographed by Darren Byrne Photography and Film here at this venue is definitely a plus as it’s a photographers dream.
Darren and Juliana have shots lots of weddings here and each time we find newer locations and spots for lovely moments with couple that were once looking for a wedding photographer in Meath or Video for their wedding day.

The weather may have cooled a little but that certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits & today we hit the road for the Woodenbridge Hotel in the beautifully picturesque Vale Of Avoca in Wicklow. How did you meet?: Paddy and I went to school in the same area so we had a few mutual friends. We hit it off straight away and quickly became inseparable. Our future was set when we discovered we were pregnant very soon after meeting. Within a year of meeting we had bought our house and had had our daughter. It was a crazy first year but we wouldn’t change it for anything now.
Tell us about the Proposal: Paddy had gone to wave a friend off at the airport who was migrating to Canada but we’d arranged to meet up for dinner later on that day. The time that we’d arranged came and went so I had texted Paddy and he said he was waiting on the bus...2 hours later I was still waiting and getting pretty annoyed so I text again and he said he was shopping in town and for me to trust him, I was really annoyed then when a photo of him and his friends was put on Facebook but he still told me to trust him. He eventually came home quite drunk and called our daughter who was 3 at the time out into the hall, she came back in then with the box in her hand, I looked at it then went out to the hall where paddy was down on one knee...safe to say I was no longer annoyed. Luckily Paddy proposed again an exact year before our wedding date down by the river of our wedding venue and it was very romantic lol
Tell us about the dress : I found my dress in the bridal corner which was the first shop I went to, the girls were so lovely...the dress I chose was the 7th and last dress I tried on and we all fell in love with it. There were a few tears. My mother in law asked if I loved it and wanted it and I said yes so she paid the deposit there and then, I didn’t bring money on the advice of my fiancé as he didn’t want me to make a rushed decision lol. This is was about 18 months before our wedding so I had a long time to wait before seeing it again but I loved it just as much as I did the first time.
Tell Us about the Suits!: Paddy didn’t go to look at suits until about 3 weeks before the wedding, I was quite anxious about it by then. He ordered his waistcoat and bow ties off the internet as he couldn’t buy the red he wanted in store. The lads then went for their last fitting 3 days before the wedding and brought the suits home then. They were perfect although my dads trousers were a bit big as he couldn’t go for a fitting but we disguised it well on the day.
Tell us about your ceremony: We were very set on having a humanist ceremony as we aren’t religious at all and we loved that we could have whatever we wanted. Our officiant was great from the beginning and gave us a few ideas that we used for the ceremony.
The most amazing moment was our daughter Addie playing me down the aisle on the piano. She had practiced for weeks and she was so good. I will forever cherish the memory. I remember messing the vows up a little as I didn’t hear what Dick said, everyone laughed though and I can see the exact moment in our photographs as everyone is smiling. Walking down the aisle and seeing people there is very vague now and hearing the music is all a blur so I can’t wait to see the video.
Favourite Memory Of The Day?: My favourite memory is probably when paddy and I were called into the function room for our first dance. The outstanding cheers from all our guests was brilliant.
I also loved every bit of our ceremony, especially our daughter on the piano and when we walked outside to everyone blowing bubbles, it was an incredible feeling.
What one piece of advice would you give future brides: I would worry less about trying to mingle with everyone and I would make more time for dancing and the photo booth. There’s plenty of time to talk to guests after the wedding.
I think small touches go along way. Our guests are still complimenting us on how personal everything was. It takes time but the finished result is well worth it.
Why Did You Choose Your Photographer?: Our photographer did a family wedding a couple of years before ours and we thought he was brilliant on the day. It was great that we saw him in action before booking him. He also had a backdrop and props as part of his package which meant we didn’t have to think about a photobooth or selfie mirror. He was brilliant all day and captured some amazing moments.
Why did you choose your Videographer?: Our videographer came highly recommended from a wedding group I was on. His name cropped up on every post asking for recommendations and after seeing some videos I was sold. It took some convincing but I persuaded my fiancé that it was the one thing I really wanted. I can’t wait to see it.
Why Did you Choose your reception venue?: We chose our venue as the location was stunning, we fell in love with his character and history straight away. As it’s the oldest hotel in Ireland it had a touch of old and new. We loved it from the beginning and have stayed there a few times. The staff are also brilliant. The food is delicious and I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue.
Tell us about your honeymoon!: As we have a 7 year old daughter we decided that after the wedding we would bring her away for a few days, so we went to Sligo for the week after the wedding. Paddy and I are going to Rome on our honeymoon in October. We thought it would be better to have something to look forward to after the wedding. We chose Rome as I’ve always wanted to go to Italy and we are very much tourists while on holiday so thought it would be ideal to have some adventures.
The wonderfully talented Aimee Grendon provided the ceremony & drinks reception music & had started the ball rolling for the bridesmaids as they made their way down the aisle before the highlight of the day hit everyone by surprise - Aimee moved to the side, and Paddy & Stephany’s 7 year old daughter Addie played The Bridal Chorus - Here Comes The Bride on the piano while her Mam walked down the aisle. There literally wasn’t a dry eye in the room! Videographers included!

Who! Kelly Gaughan & Conor O'Callaghan.
What! Full Day Videography
Where! Ceremony in the Convent Chapel, Bandon, followed by dinner & dancing in the Celtic Ross, Rosscarberry, Co. Cork.
When! Saturday 10th December 2016.
Our weekend in West Cork continued after Kate & Damien's wedding on the 9th December, when we travelled a few miles down the road to join Kelly & Conor celebrate their big day on the 10th December in Bandon. The reception was in the beautiful Celtic Ross in Rosscarbery, a venue that never fails to impress us. Before the ceremony in Bandon, Kelly and her crew got ready in the The Celtic Ross. Darren could not have wished for a more relaxed bride and bridal party! Parking was at a premium at the church so we blocked the bridesmaids into their space!
After the ceremony, while Darren headed off to get shots in a nearby garden, I sat in the car to wait. It was a typical December day so I had the heat on....yep you have probably guessed...the battery ran dead and the car wouldn't start! Just as I was about to get an awful earful from the boss, one of Kellys brodesmaids appeared (from her blocked in car) which kept Darren quiet!! She had news which with music to my ears...there was another car on the car park that wouldnt start that was being jumped as we spoke! Someone else obviously did what I did! Thankfully, with the help of those jump leads, we got going and the bridesmaids got going! We headed off to Warren beach for some really beautiful shots.
Kelly and Conor own and run Epiphany Wedding & Events in Bandon, and they decorated the Celtic Ross with Epiphany wedding decor. The venue truly looked a million dollars. Dinner and dancing ensued with the help of the fantastic Red Effect and after a goood hour rocking it out, we hit the road for home. No jump start needed Thanks to the fabulous Mr & Mrs O'Callaghan Gaughan for choosing us to catch their memories!

We had the pleasure of videoing Jessica & Andy’s big day in Rathsallagh over the weekend. The weather was unreal for this time of year…fresh but bone dry! The adrenaline and nerves kept the chill away from Jessica while she waited outside the beautiful Orangey to make her big entrance.
Welcoming her into the ceremony were Neil & David, who make up half of The Trips wedding band. Jessica & Andy’s song choices were super and my favourite had to be Ryan Adam’s ‘When the stars go blue’. I have never heard it a wedding before, and I hope it’s not the last time I hear it! I wasn’t the only person to enjoy the lads; I have never been to a ceremony when the congregation sang along with the musicians!! The Orangey is a beautiful intimate ceremony room, with beautiful natural light peering in the double doors on the couple as they said their vows.
Rathsallagh Wedding day | One Fab Day | Shot by Darren Byrne Photography & Film
Making hay while the sun shone, we headed for the gardens after the meet and greet. Out here, we got beautiful natural shots of the couple surrounded by those who mattered most to them, none more than Zoe and Lucy, the couple’s two beautiful daughters & flower girls. While we were out getting shots & footage, Neil & David kept her lit at the welcome reception with some great music & then it was onto the reception entrance & some grub! Rathsallagh is renowned for its food and they certainly did not disappoint!
After dinner & some very funny speeches, the remaining half of The Trips joined the crew and the party got going! Jessica and Andy danced to Burt Bacharach's famous ‘This Guy’s in Love with You’ surrounded by everyone, who did not have to be asked twice to join in! We finished up at about 11pm, just as the hot dogs were making an appearance! Thanks Jessie & Andy, for choosing us to share and capture your special day. Warmest wishes to the new Mr & Mrs Phelan!

Wedding Photography covering Cork. Darren Byrne Photography
Kate, bride, driven and confident.
Damien, groom - Ah he's Damo!
We have travelled around Ireland this year. I was in parts of the country that I have never seen before. Photography is bringing me on a tour of this lovely nation, and I'm getting paid to do what I love too! This time, in the comfort of a new jeep.
From start to finish, this couple made it all worth the (long!) drive. We had a wedding to shoot the following day so we decided to arrive down the night before Kate and Damien's wedding. This would save me getting out of bed at the crack of dawn to travel (maybe 6am) and allow me to have a fresh head for shooting the wedding. Juliana (assistant) is the queen of sleep and only for the tripod she uses is so light she'd be sprawled across that for a snooze any chance she gets. The trip down on this particular evening was made very easy as my horse was running in Clonmel Racecourse and with her finishing a promising 6th after 2 previous bad runs where she didn't finish - I would have driven to America after that. So if the horse runs well, I work well. SIMPLE!
Up the next morning, still smiling and delighted after the races, we packed up and headed for Damien's family home. We love going to the groom's preparation location because it's a great way to allow the bride to see what was going on over there while she was getting ready. Damien had the Skoda polished up and was giving it one last rub of the cloth before its big day escorting the bridal party around. Later, we arrived at Kate's, and were greeted with a massive smile & a hug. We had met prior to today as we always ensure a meeting with couples to organise a plan for the wedding day.
After some brief chatting it was down to business in getting some natural, candid shots of everyone and anyone in the house. Once they all have seen me they became more relaxed which allowed me to disappear and capture all the details. That was Juliana's influence. She came back one day form a seminar and she was told to shoot anything that the bride purchased related to the wedding day. After she gave me that pointer, I was on it. I shot all the items I could think of that were part of the wedding look. This time of year (Christmas) creates a lot of little festive details with the nice decorations and bits & bobs sitting around the house. I do tend to keep an eye on my watch to make sure the bride and bridesmaids are all in check and that nothing will run to over time. That's part of my job, or at least I think it is, because if I don't keep check on the time, not many will, what with everything going on. With that, we packed up and headed for the church where the sun was lurking in the background trying to pierce through the thick fog. While people were arriving and parking up, I was shooting guests walking into the ceremony. Bride arrives, hits the aisle and gives it socks!
They're married in a flash and then it's straight into the family photos, the group photo and, lastly, some bride and groom shots in and outside of the church (while its empty). Onto a lovely lake for the bridal party shots and then some romantic ones of the newly married couple. They rocked it and we wrapped it up in 15mins, with the sun arriving about 5-8mins before we packed up. Ideal timing? It sure was! We headed on to the reception where not many photos were left to do. Any particular shots that the bride and groom wanted were taken care of so they were free to mingle and drink their champagne until called for the meal. Speeches, desserts, cake cutting and then, boom, the first dance! The day comes to an end for us, and we loved sharing in every minute of it! The whole wedding party was a joy to shoot, a pleasure to work with and friends for a lifetime! Thanks again from Team DB...Darren, Juliana, Dickie & Fiona!
